Dear Members,
Since the Department of Tourism of Delhi Government was not reckoning the date for re-approval of restaurants following the date of expiry of the previous approval of 5 years, the matter was taken up by the National Restaurant Association of India with the said department, for necessary amendment in the guidelines.
The Department of Tourism of Delhi has accepted the suggestion made by the NRAI and accordingly has revised the relevant condition in the guidelines to the effect that the date of re-approval shall be the day following the date of expiry of previous approval, provided the concerned restaurant has submitted its application along with 50% of the fee prescribed for new restaurant i.e. Rs.3,000/- instead of Rs.6,000/- for restaurants upto 100 seats and Rs.5,000/- instead of Rs.10,000/- for restaurants above 100 seats, at least three months before the expiry date of the previous approval.

Dear Members,
The NRAI had taken up the matter for permission by the Delhi Police (Traffic) and the Transport Department of Delhi government. After a long correspondence and personal representations to both the authorities the Dy. Commissioner of Police (Traffic) accepted the request made by the association and issued a circular on September 22 2007 to its officers not to harass the scooters/bikes being used by the restaurant for the home delivery of food. With this order of the Police Dept of Delhi, restaurants got much needed relief from the day to day harassment (by the police). The copy of the circular issued by the Dy. Commissioner of Police is reproduced for the information of the members. As regard the Transport Department, the matter is still under consideration of that department. |
